Kevin Hart will not be the host of the Academy Awards. He buckled under intense public scrutiny and tweeted early Friday morning how he wished not to be a distraction. Hart apologized to the LGBTQ community for his “insensitive words.” On Thursday, the comic refused to apologize for homophobic tweets from almost a decade ago. Kevin Hart had deleted those tweets since the announcement on Tuesday that he will host the 2019 Oscars. Hart Instagrammed a message to his 66 million followers on Thursday afternoon. He revealed that the Academy gave him an ultimatum to apologize or they would find a new host. Hart told his followers how he’s a different man and grown since tweeting homophobic slurs. (The Wrap)

The Golden Globe Awards nominees were announced yesterday. A Star Is Born leads the movie nominees, while The Assassination of Gianni Versace was the big TV nominee. The show will air live on January 6th on NBC and will be hosted by Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL OF THE NOMINEES.
Carrie Ann Inaba will join The Talk as a full-time co-host. The Dancing With the Stars judge has filled in since Julie Chen left the daytime show in September. She walked away in the wake of her husband, Les Moonves, firing as CBS chairman/CEO due to gross sexual misconduct. Carrie Ann Inaba filled in the day Julie Chen announced her departure. She told Inaba, “You’d look awful good sitting in that chair, my Asian sister. I’m just saying.” (Entertainment Weekly)
A source says Julie Chen is sticking by her husband, former CBS boss Les Moonves. Apparently, it’s because his alleged deviant behaviors ceased once they got married, though it’s said she does actually believe he’s innocent. After users mounted a campaign, Netflix has backtracked and will keep reruns of the sitcom on its streaming service, at least through 2019. Fans spotted an expiration date suggesting that the NBC hit from the 90s would only be available until the end of this year. Netflix will pay around $100 million to parent company WarnerMedia to keep the show another year, $30 million a year more than what it was paying before. It is widely believed the show will eventually move on to a streaming service to be launched by WarnerMedia next year. (New York Times, Hollywood Reporter)

A photo surfaced that appeared to show Travis Scott cheating on Kylie Jenner. Kylie and her sisters, Kim and Khloé Kardashian, and Travis himself all slammed the fake photo. A father is accusing Dog The Bounty Hunter of assaulting his teenage son when he asked for a photo. Sources say that the kid is the one who was harassing Dog, and even insulted and threatened his wife. The sources add that Dog is planning on filing a harassment report against the kid and his father. According to an insider, the teenager actually approached Dog and said, “I have a bounty on my head, what are you gonna do about it motherf***er?” When Dog told the kid to back up because his wife is sick (she had reportedly just gotten back from her emergency surgery for a throat blockage), the kid wouldn’t buzz off and instead insulted and threatened his wife, allegedly saying, “tell that fat b***h to get out of her chair, I’ll cut her in half.” Source: TMZ

Sean Penn is in Istanbul, Turkey this week, reportedly working on a documentary about the gruesome murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Turkish media reports that the Oscar-winning actor and director was joined by a camera crew outside the Saudi consulate, where Khashoggi was allegedly strangled to death and then dismembered on October 2nd. His crew was also seen outside the home of the Saudi consul general. Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah says Penn is also expected to meet with Khashoggi’s fiancée Hatice Cengiz, Turkish officials and others who were close to the journalist.
