Bulls players pushing back on Boylen 3 games in

5:37 PM ET Malika Andrews Adrian Wojnarowski CHICAGO — Bulls players are pushing back on Jim Boylen’s aggressive coaching style just three games into his tenure as head coach. After suffering the worst loss in franchise history on Saturday night, Zach LaVine and Justin Holiday led a two-hour, player-only meeting in lieu of the practice Boylen had planned for the team on Sunday. After the players met, Boylen and his coaching staff joined them for another meeting that rookie Wendell Carter Jr., said was the players coming to coaches “as men and (talking) to them about how we felt.” The …

Power Rankings: Tennessee takes down Gonzaga

5:00 PM ET When Grant Williams fouled out late against Kansas in late November, Tennessee’s offense disappeared. The Volunteers struggled to score down the stretch against the Jayhawks, and ended up losing in overtime. On Sunday against unbeaten Gonzaga, Williams fouled out once again, this time with 2:30 remaining. Admiral Schofield wasn’t going to let Tennessee lose this time, though. He scored Tennessee’s last 11 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer in the final minute, to help the Volunteers hand Gonzaga its first loss of the season. Tennessee now has a marquee win on which to hang its hat, and will …

Inside the Dolphins' wild touchdown: How it worked

5:15 PM ET Seth Walder & Matt Bowen With the New England Patriots leading 33-28 with seven seconds remaining, the Miami Dolphins needed a miracle to win. And their prayers were answered in the form of a Ryan Tannehill pass up the middle, a pair of laterals and some shifty running from Kenyan Drake, as the Dolphins walked off the Pats on a game-winning 69-yard trip to the end zone. It was the longest game-winning touchdown with no time left in regulation in the Super Bowl era, per Elias Sports Bureau. Here’s how the crazy play worked, how Drake found …

Miami miracle: Crazy final 2-lateral TD jolts Pats

5:38 PM ET MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — It was a Miami miracle. With their playoff hopes hanging on by a slim thread, the Dolphins called a last-ditch hook-and-ladder play appropriately named “Boise.” Two pitches, a cross-field zigzag and Kenyan Drake outrunning a stumbling Rob Gronkowski for a touchdown as time expired resulted in a 34-33 Dolphins victory Sunday over the Patriots. “We have something for those type of situations. We work on it every Friday and Saturday,” coach Adam Gase said. “It’s boring because you might go three years without calling one of them. But these guys stuck with it …

Dolphins' incredible final play caps off big step back for Patriots' D

4:37 PM ET MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Coming off their most impressive performance of the season, the New England Patriots’ defense took a major step back in Sunday’s 34-33 loss to the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. It doesn’t get much worse than giving up a desperation 69-yard touchdown on the last play of the game. The performance sparks some old questions about the unit, and how much the Patriots can rely on it as they hope to make another postseason run. Once again, South Florida was anything but a day at the beach for the Patriots, who are …

Max Holloway answers tough questions at UFC 231, creates debate on all-time status

3:50 PM ET Jeff Wagenheim The questions continue to flood in for Max Holloway. But they no longer are an ominous interrogation. Now the questions represent a sorting out of all the wondrous possibilities in play for the UFC featherweight champion. Holloway had all the answers on Saturday night in Toronto, beating up Brian Ortega to the point where, after four vicious rounds, the cageside doctor mercifully would not allow the challenger — his left eye closed by puffy purplish bruising — to continue to absorb damage. In a masterful title defense, Max Holloway’s relentless strikes finally bested a game …

Sources: Garrett pitched Dallas return to Witten

12:19 PM ET Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has made multiple attempts this season to get former Dallas tight end Jason Witten to come out of retirement and help the Cowboys in their postseason push, league sources told ESPN. Witten has resisted those overtures, some of which came in recent weeks, as tempting as it might have been to help his former team, sources said. Dallas has struggled at the tight end position because of poor performance and injury, and Garrett was convinced that Witten could step right back in and become another asset on an offense that has …
