Morning Mix Guests & Friends

The 27th Annual KELLEYS ISLAND MAKE-A-WISH SWIM

Cindra Mielke & Jeni Hammond will be swimming to Kelleys Island for the 27th time to raise money to grant wishes for Make-A-Wish kids. This year, they will swim from West Bay to Portside, Sunday August 1. The golf cart poker run is back Saturday July 31, and all of the money raised will go to the kids to make their wishes come true, including Trinity (left), a 12-year old with an epileptic condition, whose wish is to swim in each of the Great Lakes; and Rylee (right), a 13 year old with REIT Syndrome whose wish is for a hot tub, as the bubbles and water help her relax. Despite COVID and the cancellation of the Golf Cart Poker Run, Cindra and Jen still raised $20,200 for Make-A-Wish!

BEAUTY QUEEN BRITAIN BENNETT

She is promoting her anti-bullying campaign, called BRAVE.  Part of that is having parents get more involved with their kids’ social media use, since bullying is so prevalent on those sites. She is promoting her SMART Parents plan, with SMART being an acronym for Social Media Awareness Respect Timing.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, Britain is unable to visit scvhools and parents, so she is posting information on her YouTube Channel, on Facebook and on Instagram: @TBHnonprofit.

She also uses the TBH acronym when it comes to social media and online bullying, standing for Talk to somebody; Block it out of your heart; Help others.
Her campaign even caught the eye of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who mentioned Britain by name in a Teen Vogue essay, called Why Our Generation Is What’s Right With America.  CLICK HERE TO READ IT.

In her travels to promote an end to bullying, Britain hung out with Shawn Mendes!

Britain is available to speak at schools, church, youth groups, or any organization. To arrange an appearance, call 419/202-0590, or contact her at britainabennett@gmail.com.

LITTLE KIDS ROCK
The Huron St. Peter Little Kids Rock program was founded 3 years ago by Bo & Julie Loeffler in collaboration with John Cipiti, co-chair of the Music Department at Terra State Community College. Huron St. Peter was the first Catholic school in the nation to establish & support a Little Kids Rock program, teaching kids in grades 1-8 how to make, perform and sing rock n roll music.

In Scott Gast’s memory & legacy, the Scott Gast Memorial Fund donated guitars and other instruments to the program. If you’d like to donate to keep this amazing program alive, send donations to Bo Loeffler at Huron St. Peter School, or to Little Kids Rock, Attn: Julie Loeffler, 409 Anchorage Circle, Huron, OH 44839.
