Hollywood Dirt


There was a big Steve Harvey-style mistake during the Academy Awards. With the producers and cast of La La Land already on stage and into their Best Picture thank you speeches, stagehands appeared on the stage to announce that Moonlight had actually won the award, but presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway had been given the wrong envelope. A day before Hollywood celebrated the best in cinema, the Razzies diss-honored the worst. Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, a documentary that takes a harsh view of Hillary Clinton and her party, collected four awards, including Worst Picture. Karl Lagerfeld claims he was working with Meryl Streep on a dress for the Oscars but she pulled out at the last minute. He accuses her of instead going with a designer who would pay her. Streep denies the claims and is now accusing the designer of defamation. Source: People

Oscar winner Mahershala Ali’s wife, Amatus Sami-Karim, has given birth to their first child. Little Miss Bari Najma Ali made her debut on Wednesday.

Bill Paxton has died after he suffered complications from recent heart surgery. And while he wasn’t included visually in last night’s “In Memoriam” tribute at the Academy Awards, presenter Jennifer Aniston choked back tears as she said a few words in his honor. Tributes have come in from networks, fellow stars, and even storm chasers, who created a map tribute to Paxton and his Twister character using fake storm sightings on a radar. Source: Variety

People’s Court judge Joseph Wapner has died at his home in Los Angeles. Judge Wapner had served 20 years on the California Municipal and Superior Courts before becoming a household name on The People’s Court in 1981. He was on the show until 1993, and inspired TV litigators like Judge Judy Scheindlin. Joseph Wapner was 97.

7-foot-7 Game of Thrones star Neil Fingleton has died. The tallest man in the UK and the European Union in 2007 and former basketball player succumbed to heart failure on Saturday. Neil Fingleton was 36.

Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson says she caught an employee embezzling commissions to his personal account and fired him. Police are investigating.

Donald Trump said he wouldn’t be attending the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. Richard Dreyfuss wasn’t shocked because he said it takes guts – “something Trump doesn’t have.” Zach Braff has called for Alec Baldwin to replace him. So far, Alec hasn’t responded. Meanwhile, Trump is the first president in over 30 years to dip out of the event that usually features a comedy roast of the commander-in-chief. Source: TMZ

America’s Got Talent finalist Jackie Evancho might actually get her meeting with President Trump. After singing the national anthem at Trump’s inauguration, she shared her disappointment with the President’s decision to revoke federal protection allowing transgender students to use the bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity. Evancho, who has a transgender older sister, tweeted, “u gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration. Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with u 2 talk #transgender rights.”  White House press secretary Sean Spicer thinks the meeting will take place, but Jackie has not yet been contacted by the White House. Billy Bush lost his job at the Today show after the whole world heard his “locker room talk” with Donald Trump and now there’s reports that Bush’s downfall was orchestrated by NBC colleagues. A source says that a staffer at the Today show leaked the video believing it would throttle Trump’s candidacy. Another source insists it wasn’t a Today show staffer but someone else at NBC who is still employed by the network. (The New York Post)

Honey Boo Boo’s Mama June is back…just a lot less of her. After having surgery, June went from 460 pounds to a size four. Her weight loss reveal is set to be part of her upcoming docuseries, Mama June: From Not to Hot, set to premiere Friday at 10pm ET on WEtv. Her daughters, including Honey Boo Boo, say their mom is having a hard time staying in and is now going out in disguise.  Source: People

HGTV Flip or Flop stars Tarek and Christina El Moussa are getting a divorce. At this point, he hasn’t ruled out a possible reconciliation, saying it could happen about 10 years from now. Nowadays, Tarek and Christina are reportedly focusing on co-parenting and being a family for their two children, six-year-old Taylor and one-year-old Brayden. For his part, Tarek calls Christine a “great mom,” and so far, they’re doing their best to remain amicable. Source: Entertainment Tonight

Amal Clooney debuted her baby bump at the 42nd annual César Awards in Paris on Friday. She showed off her growing figure in a fitted white gown with a drop waistline and feathered skirt. She accessorized with a white shrug, chandelier earrings, and a white clutch. She and husband George Clooney are expecting twins in June.

Homer Simpson will receive one of his biggest honors yet when he is “inducted” into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. A 1992 baseball episode of The Simpsons, featuring Major League stars like Wage Boggs, Ozzie Smith, Roger Clemens and Ken Griffey Jr., is being honored on its 25th anniversary during a special weekend in May.
