PUT-IN-BAY’S BOB GATEWOOD

VIDEO FOR “FRIENDS OF THE BAY”

Bob Gatewood and his band Calabash started out playing summers in the Cleveland Flats and winters in Key West. Now he’s moved operations up to Put-in-Bay, playing there all summer. Wintertime, Gatewood still goes south, but he’s much more likely to be on a beach than on a stage, where he writes the songs we hear up on the island and on the airwaves. He wrote the official song of Put-in-Bay, “Friends-of-the-Bay”, and several others including, “I ain’t Workin’ for the Man”, which the Cleveland Plain Dealer called, “…a working man’s anthem.” The Scene Magazine called him the best of the year and his songs and albums have garnered several awards as well as radio airplay across the region. Some world-famous players have come through the ranks of his band, and he records with them and others in Nashville. Gatewood’s latest effort was produced by former bandmate and probably the world’s best well-known session ace, Tom Bukovac, and features Ohio legendary drummers Shawn Fichter and Joe Vitale
